Flags: What's New

AlphaThe new flags are rolling out gradually. Strise switches them on team by team.

Flags are moving onto your team's calculated risk settings. This page describes what changes for teams that have the new flags. If your team does not have them yet, your flags still work as described in Risk Flags.

The Short Version

  • Flags come from your calculated risk settings. An entity gets a flag when it matches a risk factor in your Calculated Risk Settings, and the flag takes the highlight colour of the score level it matches.
  • No highlight colour, no flag. A score level without a highlight colour still adds its points to the calculated risk, but raises no flag.
  • The old flags followed fixed rules. They were derived from a fixed set of criteria, with only limited options to adjust them. Now your team decides which risk factors raise a flag, and how strongly.
  • Flags and calculated risk use the same settings. Each flag on an entity matches a risk factor you also find in its calculated risk.

How Flags Are Raised

Each risk factor the entity matches raises a flag in the highlight colour (moderate, medium or high) set on the matching score level. A company shows only its own flags.

Flags on Persons

A person can carry two kinds of flags:

  • Their own flags: PEP or RCA hits, sanctions hits, and the person's own country of residence or citizenship.
  • Flags inherited from companies: risk factors from a company where the person has a role, significant ownership or a beneficial owner role. The person gets one flag per factor per company.

A person can also inherit Associated company with custom screening list hit from a company with a hit on one of your custom screening lists. This inherited flag is off by default.

Persons never inherit PEP, RCA or sanctions hits from a company. Settings → Flags on persons lets your team choose which factors raise a flag on a person, both own and inherited.

Where to Adjust Flags

  • Settings → Calculated risk: set or remove the highlight colour on each score level. This decides which factors raise a flag and in which colour. See Calculated Risk Settings for how score levels work and who can change them.
  • Settings → Flags on persons: choose which factors raise a flag on persons.

The Risk flags settings page and the flag time filter on the Team Settings page do not apply to the new flags. They stay visible, marked Deprecated, and only affect the old flags returned by the Connect API (the flags and riskSignals fields).
