Assisted Document Enrichment

Beta

Strise switches Assisted document enrichment on per team. Ask your CSM to enable it.

Assisted document enrichment reads the documents you upload to a company or person and suggests changes to that entity's data: owners, roles, addresses, company identifiers and PEP or sanctions statements. You decide every suggestion yourself, next to the passage of the document it was read from. Nothing is written to the entity until you save.

It replaces retyping a certificate of incorporation, a shareholder register or a customer's KYC form into Strise field by field. Each change you accept keeps a link to its source document, so the edit badge on the field shows which document it came from.

Availability

  • The feature works on companies and persons in Strise. A document uploaded to a private person is attached but not read.
  • It needs Document Upload on your team.
  • You review suggestions on the entity page in the desktop app. The entity side panel and the mobile layout show a document's status but don't open the review.

What Strise Suggests

AreaSuggestions
Company detailsCompany name, legal form, inception date, registered address, industry, identifiers
Person detailsBirth date, address, country
RolesNew roles, role updates and role removals
OwnershipShareholders, beneficial owners and share classes
ScreeningPEP and sanctions statements, see PEP and Sanction Statements

Each area can be added, updated or removed, so a document that no longer lists a board member suggests removing that role.

Start a Review

Upload a document from the entity's Documents card, or from Upload document in the ownership card's add data menu. Strise starts reading as soon as the upload finishes. The banner at the top of the entity page shows Reading document… while it works, then the number of suggestions and the documents they came from. Press Review to open the Assisted document enrichment drawer. A document with open suggestions also shows See suggested changes in the Documents card.

Upload Several at Once

In the Assisted document enrichment drawer you can choose or drop several files together, remove any before uploading, and add more with Add more documents. Strise reads them together and you review their suggestions in one pass. If one file fails to upload, the others still go through and Strise names the file that failed. If none go through, each file shows why it failed, so you can remove it and retry the rest. Once a review has started, Add documents in the drawer header (or the review bar's menu) brings you back to the upload step without losing your place.

Attach Without Reading

Untick Read the documents and suggest changes before you upload to attach the files without Strise reading them, for example when you import a client's existing KYC records. The documents are listed on the Documents card with no reading status. To read one later, choose Read document in its menu.

Deciding Suggestions

Each suggestion offers Accept and Skip, and Edit when you want to change the value first. Nothing is written until you press Save changes in the review bar; until then Undo takes a decision back. When a step has three or more suggestions left to accept, the bar offers Accept all for that step. Finish review unlocks once every suggestion is decided, and the bar counts how many are left. When a suggestion can't be accepted, the reason shows beside the button.

A label on each suggestion says what you are deciding. When the change names someone other than the entity you are on, the label starts with who that is: Matched for an entity already in Strise, or New entity for one Strise will create. Then it names the change, such as New shareholder, Role update or Registered address update. Entity not matched means Strise doesn't yet know who the document means. On the ownership chart, each box has a label for the owner or company in it. The label reads Matched, New entity, or Entity not matched. Next to it, the box shows the one change it is part of, or how many changes it has left to decide. New boxes show the label inside, and boxes already on the chart show it in a strip above. While one end of a line is Entity not matched, the line's share reads Waiting on a match.

Ownership suggestions show on the ownership chart, where you accept or skip them box by box. Accept and Skip on a box decide every ownership change it is part of, as the owner or as the company that is owned. The same works in Fullscreen, with the review bar at the bottom. Turn on Suggestions only to hide every owner without a suggestion. The chart keeps the owners that link each suggestion to the company.

Sometimes a suggestion contradicts its own document. It says B owns A, but the document also shows A owning all of B. The suggestion's line carries a Check direction label, and its card and box say why. Accept all leaves it out, and its card and box offer Skip first, with Accept anyway beside it. The review bar shows a Check N suggestions button that takes you to the first one. Skipping the suggestion that A owns all of B instead clears the label.

Check the Source

While you review, the Source pane beside the page shows the document the current suggestion was read from, so you can check it without leaving Strise. A PDF or an image opens on the page with the value outlined. Drag or scroll to move around it, pinch or use + and − to zoom, and use the pane's buttons to see the whole page or go back to the value. The pane follows you as you move between suggestions, and Open page opens the file at that page. A Word, JSON or text file shows the passage around the value with the value highlighted, and a CSV or Excel file shows its rows as a table with the value's row highlighted; + and − change the text size. Close the pane to give the page the full width; the Source button on any suggestion, or on a selected owner in the ownership chart, opens it again. Drag the edge between the page and the pane to make it wider.

Match People and Companies

When a suggestion names someone Strise hasn't matched yet, you match them right there: Match to the entity Strise suggests, or Find match… when it has none. Choose other… and Find match… turn the source panel into a match view: the crop of the page where the document names them above the full list, with a search, Create new entity, and a Skip that skips every suggestion about them. A match is sent straight away, and Undo match takes it back until the review is saved, also after you leave and come back, and for anyone on your team reviewing the same document. That includes a match to an entity another party in your team's reviews is already matched to, which merges the two; the suggestion then says which party it was merged with. When Strise can't tell who the whole document is about, a banner at the top of the page asks that first, since every suggestion waits on it. Match N suggested entities in the review bar's menu matches every entity Strise has a suggestion for. The edit sheet shows a crop of the page when you correct a value first. Suggestions from documents uploaded before this was added show the quoted text instead.

Some suggestions wait on companies or people Strise hasn't matched. The review bar then shows how many you still need to identify and how many suggestions wait on them. You identify a company or person by matching them to an entity or creating them as new. Skipping every suggestion that names them also takes them off the count. Identify next takes you to the first one. On the ownership chart it selects their box. In other steps it scrolls to the suggestion that names them. Once you match, create, or skip them, the review bar moves to the next one. When two or more of them have a suggestion, Match N suggested entities in the bar matches them together. You can decide the other suggestions at any time.

Discard Suggestions

Discard suggestions skips every open suggestion from a document for everyone in your team and can't be undone, so Strise asks you to confirm first. The document itself stays attached.

PEP and Sanction Statements

When a document states whether the entity is a PEP or sanctioned, and the entity already has PEP or sanction hits, the suggestion offers Review hits instead of Accept. It opens the PEP or sanction review panel beside the page, with the document's call already filled in:

  • A document saying the entity is not a PEP or not sanctioned marks every hit not already a false positive as a false positive, with the document's reason as the comment. Submit the decision to record it.
  • A document saying the entity is a PEP or sanctioned marks nothing: pick the hit it refers to and confirm it as a match.
  • Hits whose recorded decision the document contradicts are called out on the suggestion.

Closing the panel after a decision closes the suggestion. When the entity has no hits of that kind, Accept records the statement as a custom verification.

How Each File Type Is Read

Strise reads every file type the Documents card accepts: PDF, PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, JSON and TXT. For a DOCX, XLSX, CSV, JSON, or TXT file the text is read, so a document whose content is laid out visually (a scanned page pasted into Word, for example) extracts less reliably than the same document as a PDF. An Excel workbook is read sheet by sheet, each cell as the sheet displays it. A CSV exported from Excel reads correctly whether it was saved as UTF-8, as Unicode text (UTF-16), or in Excel's default Nordic encoding.

Deleting a Document

Deleting a document also deletes the suggestions Strise made from it, including the text it quoted. Changes you already accepted stay on the entity.

Data Handling

Assisted document enrichment runs under the same data boundaries as Strise's other AI features. Suggestions from a document are visible only to your team.
