Editing Entities

Entities in Strise are dynamic — all data and relationships can be updated as new information becomes available.

You can edit existing data, delete them entirely, or add new information to an entity.

All changes are automatically reflected across Strise:

  • Your team members will see the updates immediately.
  • The entity page, completed reviews, and generated PDF reports are all updated in real time.

Whenever you modify data, Strise also updates its connected processes. For example:

  • All new companies and people added to an entity are automatically screened against sanctions lists.
  • If you change an entity’s jurisdiction to one considered high-risk in your settings, the entity will be re-evaluated accordingly.
  • New beneficial owners are automatically checked for PEP (Politically Exposed Person) status.

Each edit is attributed to the user who made it, so your team can always see who changed what and when.

If you don’t need to make structural edits but still want to leave context, you can add comments directly on ownership details — a quick way to communicate key information right where it’s most relevant.

Ownership comment

Strise always keeps the original version of any data field. As a user, you have peace of mind knowing that there’s always an original copy.

1. Editing Company Information

All data fields under Company Information can be edited.

  1. Hover over the field you want to update.
  2. Click the pencil icon that appears.
  3. The edit side panel opens, allowing you to add, remove, or modify the selected data.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Once saved, the updated value becomes the authoritative source for that entity, and will be used in all screening and monitoring going forward.

2. Editing Roles

All roles associated with an entity can be edited, removed, or added.

2.1 Editing an Existing Role

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the role.
  2. In the side panel, update the role title and/or time period.
  3. Click Delete role if you wish to remove it.

2.2 Adding a New Role

  1. Click the pencil icon in the Roles section to open edit mode.
  2. Select Add role at the bottom of the list.
  3. Search for an existing entity in Strise, or create a new custom entity if it doesn’t exist.
  4. Choose the role type and time period, then save your changes.

3. Editing Ownership

All ownerships linked to an entity can be edited, removed, or added.

To enter edit mode, open the Ownership Chart and click the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

3.1 Editing Ownership

  1. In the chart, click the overflow menu on the entity card you wish to edit.
  2. Select Edit owner.
  3. Update the ownership percentage and beneficial owner status.
  4. Click Save.

If there are multiple subsidiary layers between the entity and the root company, update each ownership link individually until the ultimate ownership reflects the correct structure.

3.2 Deleting Ownership

To remove an owner:

  1. Click the overflow menu on the entity card.
  2. Select Delete owner.

3.3 Adding Ownership

To add a new owner:

  1. Click the overflow menu on the entity you want to assign an owner to.
  2. Select Add owner.
  3. Choose to either:
    • Select an existing entity from Strise, or
    • Create a new custom entity if it doesn’t exist.
  4. Once added, define that entity as the owner of the selected entity.

4. Editing Beneficial Owners

Strise lets you add, remove, or edit the beneficial owner (BO) status of an entity.

You can also designate beneficial owners without direct ownership when necessary.

Who is a beneficial owner in Strise? See Ownership in Strise for more details.

4.1 Adding New Beneficial Owners

You can add beneficial owners either without ownership or with ownership.

  • Without ownership: In Ownership & Control, click the pencil icon > + Add beneficial owner, then search or create an entity to add.
  • With ownership: In the Ownership Chart, enter edit mode, add or edit an owner, and toggle “Is beneficial owner” on before saving.

4.2 Editing Beneficial Owner Status of Existing Owners

You can update an entity’s beneficial owner status directly from either the list view or the ownership chart.

  1. Locate the entity you want to edit — in the list or the ownership chart.
  2. Click the pencil icon (in the list) or open edit mode using the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the chart.
  3. In the side panel, toggle “Is beneficial owner” on or off.
  4. Click Save to confirm the change.

4.3 Editing Beneficial Owner Status of Indirect Owners

When an entity owns the root company through one or more subsidiaries, you can choose how the beneficial owner status applies:

  • Beneficial owner of the root company: The entity is marked as a beneficial owner only for the root company.
  • Beneficial owner of the first direct subsidiary: The entity is marked as a beneficial owner of the subsidiary, and this relationship will appear in that subsidiary’s entity page and other ownership relations linked to it.

5. Data conflicts

5.1 What is a data conflict? And how do I resolve it?

A data conflict occurs when your edited data does not match newly updated data from the registry. Upon notification of a data conflict, you must choose whether to retain your edited data or replace it with updated data from the register.

Data conflicts

Where do I find ownership conflicts?

You will receive a notification (in the bell icon at the top right when you are logged into Strise), as well as by email.
